About the Role
As part of a major IT carve-out and transformation program, we are building an independent, cloud-first IT organisation designed for the future. Based in Tübingen, we are seeking an Operational Resilience & Recovery Lead (m/f/d) to establish and drive the governance, strategy, and standards that ensure our critical systems, applications, and data remain protected, recoverable, and resilient. This is a rare opportunity to define resilience and recovery governance from the ground up and leave a mark on a newly established international IT organisation.
This is a highly visible role that combines strategic leadership, governance, and stakeholder management. Working across Infrastructure, Cloud, Cyber Security, Microsoft 365, IAM, and Application Management teams, you will help shape a robust and scalable technology environment capable of supporting long-term business growth and operational resilience.
- Define and own the enterprise strategy, governance framework, and roadmap for backup, recovery, data protection, and operational resilience
- Establish policies, standards, controls, and recovery objectives that ensure business-critical services remain resilient, recoverable, and compliant
- Lead resilience governance activities, including recovery readiness, business impact assessments, service dependency mapping, and executive reporting
- Govern Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), testing frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage backup and recovery service providers, ensuring strong performance, effective governance, and ongoing service optimisation
- Support the IT transformation program by embedding resilience and recovery requirements into new platforms, services, and operating models
- Proven experience in Backup & Recovery, Operational Resilience, IT Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, Service Management, or a related field
- Strong understanding of recovery governance, disaster recovery, resilience frameworks, and enterprise data protection
- Experience developing governance frameworks, defining standards, and driving organisational change across complex environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical teams and senior leaders
- Experience managing service providers and ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs, SLAs, and compliance requirements
- A strategic mindset, strong sense of ownership, and a passion for continuous improvement
- Ideally, you will also bring experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 protection, ISO 27001, Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery frameworks, and transformation, carve-out, or M&A programs
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, ISO 27001, Azure, or Business Continuity qualifications are advantageous
- Flexible working hours, mobile working and modern workplace equipment
- 30 days of vacation
- Discounted online shopping through our Corporate Benefits Portal
- Hybrid work schedule with possibility to work remotely
- Subsidy for the Germany Ticket, and e-charging stations in the free company parking
- Last but not least: you are driving forward the energy transition as part of a great team and ensuring that our future becomes a little greener
